The
History of a Period
The
theme here is much inspired by surrealism, and why not? Two color ranges
dominate the work, reddish, yellow and bluey ochres and bluish, green
and whitish grays. In the foreground is a bay, with a boat, and a whole
demolished town, with almost no human presence. In the mid-ground one
is in Paradise. A crowd is gathered in prayer and a saint is on his
knees, and an infants’ school is alive with children and a family
together. The rich composition is pyramidal, with a dried-up tree trunk
on which hangs a cassock and a curtain over the bay. In the depths of
the sky there are red and yellow-ochre spheres together with a Lebanese
flag. A Crucifixion (89 x 116 cm - 1987)
This is a very forceful work, showing the hill of Golgotha, where the creator of all that exists was crucified. >> Seventh Page << |
