The
History of a Period
This is a bridge that unites one bank to another, that unites heaven to earth. The composition is built round a circular form turning in space, a galaxy where every being is a star, and where every presence is something necessary. A great multitude manifesting on this bridge of patriotism give voice to a national cry. Behold the Man! (73 x 61 cm - 1994)
This is a homage to the Lebanese hero Youssef Bey Karam, a work executed to serve as an illustration for the cover of a book. In the middle of it there is a turning circle in the wake of which are shining suns, while a little to the right of the center Youssef Karam is shown on his steed. All this is happening in the cosmos, the work having no bounds or frontiers. In the foreground a battle is raging, so one sees horses, clashing swords, and warriors with their standards. All is violent movement below, while the sky if filled with human beings, the noble souls in Paradise, with bright touches giving force to the conception and the expression. >> Main page << |
